Rise in certain cancers linked to obesity and inactivity

There has been a slight decline in overall cancer rates over the last decade. However, according to a recent report in the journal Cancer, there has been a marked increase in cancers of the kidney,  pancreas, esophagus, and uterus. According to the report, this increase can be attributed to the increased prevalence of obesity and inactivity, which together, leads to hormone dysfunction, hypertension, and chronic inflammation.

Besides not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight and getting sufficient exercise may be the most effective ways to prevent cancer.
