Regular exercise can improve memory and learning

There is considerable evidence that exercising is not only good for your heart, but it’s good for your brain. Scientists at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois have found that exercising for up to an hour a day can improve memory and learning in children and the elderly. Walking or cycling regularly for 6-12 months was found to improve memory, attention, and the ability to multi-task by 15-20% in the elderly. They also found that such exercise can increase the size of crucial parts of the brain.

The scientists also found that children who are physically fit tend to be much better at multi-tasking and performing complicated mental tasks.

Comments: These findings have profound implications for improving children’s performance at school. It could also be used to help to reverse memory loss in old age. Please commit to staying active.
